This is another silicone mold. This time it’s a single pour, but we end up with a sort-of 2-part mold. This is great for parts that have undercuts, that you would normally need a “real” 2-part mold for…but perhaps you’re in a hurry, or are laze…Like me…
What does Value Added really mean in Die Casting? Steve Dathe, President of A&B Die Casting lets you know what to look for when choosing a die caster as your manufacturing partner.
Most people, when they think about die casting think about value-added processes. Our process starts by asking a lot of questions. We sit down with the engineers and really want to get a good understanding of what their part is, how it’s going to be used and what the related parts are in the assembly.
Many of our customers are coming to us from different frames a reference.
The biggest value that we provide to our customers is helping them leverage the die casting process to its maximum and incorporate all the features and sub assemblies into a single part or at least try to minimize the number parts needed for a given assembly.
Getting involved early in the design process is a huge benefit. We can help customers immensely by asking questions that help them understand what their opportunities and possibilities are from a die casting process standpoint. In some cases, die casting might not be the appropriate way for them to go for their part, and we’ll tell them that. We’ll guide them to the most cost effective process for their part that will meet their needs.
Design manufacturability is what will ultimately drive the cost of the part and build the value into the design up-front.
Rapid prototyping is an important part our process. We use our fused deposition modeling machine to give our customers a representation of what their part will look like so they can feel comfortable that the design that we’re working towards will meet their requirements.
Once the tooling is built we have extensive in-house machining and part finishing capabilities that allows us to provide excellent delivery and excellent quality. Our true value is in helping our customers understand the die casting process and keeping them happy. Making sure that they are happy customers is very important to us.
Here at A&B we add value from the very beginning the process
